Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, better known by her stage name of Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer from Washington, D.C., who was the first female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. Her first single was released with the label on October 21 2016 with the title Pho. It was then that she started to gain fame. Her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox first uploaded her music on the internet in 2012. She released her debut album Ariography and debut mixtape in 2013, Five Finger Discount. The singer continued uploading her songs online throughout 2014, which included the self-released single Bound. In 2015, she was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes album on Sweat it out on 21st July. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville team at the time was interested in having her work on Rihanna references. The announcement of her decision to be signed by Dreamville Records was made on the 8th day of December. Backseat is a track that she sang alongside Cozz on the Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. On October 21 2016 the artist released her debut album entitled Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performance on behalf of J. Cole on his track Change in 2017 and also was a part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018, she went on to guest feature on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang and EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first track Whipped Cream on Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. The music video was then followed by a short video in September. Then, in November, she released two singles, forty Shades of Choke & Grampa. In November 2013 she released No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released in her debut single February 26, 2019 for her album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby was featured along with Cole on her Creed II sound track on November 16. The 20th of February, 2019 a music video was released to promote the song. It already has over three million views on YouTube within the initial week. In December of 2018 the singer was a part of the From East Atlanta With Love Tour that featured 6LACK.
